WHAT IS THE SHELF LIFE? The shelf life of my salves is 1-2 years; however you'll enjoy the most medicinal benefit within the first year.

DOES IT STAIN CLOTHING? Be sure to massage the salve into your skin well, then allow a few minutes for it to absorb. If your clothing stains, consider using a little bit less or allow it to absorb longer before dressing.

ABSTRACT: Menthol: effects on nasal sensation of airflow and the drive to breathe

"Menthol, in lozenges, nasal sprays, vapo-rubs, inhalers, and cough syrups, is widely used as a treatment for rhinitis that is associated with acute upper respiratory tract infection and allergy. Menthol as a plant extract has been used in traditional medicine in Asia for the treatment of respiratory diseases for hundreds of years, but it was only introduced to the West as a medicine at the end of the 19th century. With the recent discovery of a menthol receptor on the sensory nerves that modulate the cool sensation, menthol has graduated from the realms of herbal medicine into the field of molecular pharmacology."

(link) A study by Eccles and Jones (1983) found that while menthol inhalation did not significantly change nasal resistance, it stimulated cold receptors in the nasal mucosa, leading to an increased sensation of airflow. This suggests that menthol provides a subjective feeling of decongestion without physically altering nasal airflow.

The best thing I have ever found for a stuffy head

I get a stuffy head this time of year, so I wanted to find something that wasn't made of carcinogens. I have loved everything I have tried, from Bloom to Balm, so I thought I would get some and try it. It was so helpful with the congestion from a cold. I've used Vick's before but hate all the chemicals that feels like it's burning you! This helps relieve the congestion just as much, but with a gentler touch.
